Jan Johnsen, PA-C

Jan Johnsen PA-C comes to us from Greensboro, NC where she practiced as a board-certified Physician Assistant since 1997 after graduating from Wake Forest University School of Medicine PA Program. Since then she has practiced exclusively in Dermatology for over 15 years after initially gaining invaluable experience practicing in Internal Medicine. She completed her undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Colorado State University. She is licensed by the Colorado Medical Board and board-certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

She brings a wealth of experience in the practice of medical & surgical dermatology. Utilizing her earlier background in Internal Medicine, she is able to take a holistic approach considering the whole health of the patient as she cares for their dermatology needs. She is proficient in the diagnosis and treatment of a large variety of dermatologic disorders to include eczema, psoriasis, acne, cysts, warts, contact dermatitis, and skin cancers. She is skilled in skin cancer screenings and exams, cryotherapy, skin surgery and other common dermatology procedures.

Jan spent many years volunteering her time to the advancement of skin care in her local communities. In NC she engaged in numerous free skin cancer screening clinics not only conducted through local hospitals in Greensboro, but also for local corporations, the police and fire departments, local churches, as well as through Guilford County health care outreach programs. She looks forward to continuing this important work and finding similar opportunities here in Colorado.

She and her husband are simply thrilled to be returning to Colorado after raising their three sons in NC. They still have many family members living here in the region including now their youngest son and his family. She states “My husband and I count it pure joy to be back in this gorgeous state of ours. I consider it truly an honor and a privilege to care for my patients and their dermatology needs. When not working you can often find my husband & I hiking, biking, or running trails as well as gardening and cooking. We have reconnected with many old friends and are blessed to have met many wonderful new friends.”

She is a active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, the Colorado Society of Dermatology Professionals, and the Colorado Academy of Physician Assistants.
