What is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a rejuvenation treatment that uses safe chemicals to gently exfoliate the facial skin and eliminate signs of aging while improving skin tone and texture. This is a more aggressive form of a facial, using medical-grade skin care products to produce rejuvenation results. Our chemical peels are highly customizable to ensure that you get the best results possible out of your treatment. When you come in for a consultation, we will analyze your skin and consider your personal goals. Then, we will develop a unique chemical peel treatment to meet your aesthetic goals.

What Type of Chemical Peels is Right for Me?

At Alta Vista Dermatology, we offer a range of chemical peel options to ensure that each patient gets the most out of their treatment. These chemical peels include:

Rejuvenize Peel™

The Rejuvenize Peel is designed to treat patients with moderate to severe imperfections such as fine lines and wrinkles, as well as uneven skin tone and texture that result from skin aging and sun exposure. We can use this peel to address unevenness caused by pigmentary changes or acne scarring. This peel is suitable for all skin types; however, we may recommend patients with deeply pigmented skin color receive the Vitalize Peel first. We typically recommend Rejuvenize Peel treatment every four to six weeks, but the number of sessions depends on individual needs. Patients often notice improvement after one peel and optimal results after three to six peels. Results can include an improved appearance of skin tone and texture and a reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Vitalize Peel®

The Vitalize Peel is designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles; treat moderate to severe skin imperfections from factors such as sun exposure and skin aging; smooth rough patches of skin, and improve uneven skin tone and texture. Like the Rejuvenize Peel, we can use this peel to treat pigmentary changes or acne scarring. Vitalize Peel is appropriate for all skin types. The number of treatments required to achieve your desired results depends on individual needs and the extent of skin damage. Typically, we recommend three to six treatments. Results include an improvement in the appearance of the overall skin condition, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, smoothness of skin texture, improved skin clarity, and a more even skin color.

Illuminize Peel®

The Illuminize Peel is appropriate for all skin types and is used to provide vibrant-looking skin and brighten the overall appearance of the skin. The Illuminize Peel is the gentlest in the SkinMedica family and may be ideal for patients seeking chemical peel treatment for the first time. There is no downtime, allowing patients to return to work or other daily activities after initial treatment. After one peel, patients can count on radiant-looking skin. We may recommend treatment sessions every two weeks until achieving optimal results; however, typically only three are required.

RevePeel®

The RevePeel® is a medium-strength peel that permeates deeply into the skin to reveal fresh, healthy skin. This medium-strength peel is ideal for men and women who are dealing with acne, hyperpigmentation, melasma, age spots and sun damage. After treatment, which is usually between 30-45 minutes, the RevePeel® stays on your skin for a few more hours. Patients receive a post-peel kit to care for their skin at home for seven days after treatment. Light peeling occurs on the first couple of days after the peel, with heavy peeling on days 4-6 post-peel. The RevePeel® is non-invasive, requires minimal downtime and significantly reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation, melasma, acne, sun damage and age spots. We recommend a series of peels to reach your desired results, followed by one maintenance peel annually.

Enlighten RX

Enlighten RX is a depigmentation system from RevePeel. It is designed to treat hyperpigmentation, melasma, dark spots and related cosmetic concerns. The Enlighten RX treatment is a 28-day program that begins with an in-office facial. During this visit, we’ll apply a skin mask and supply you with all of the skincare products you need to complete the program from the convenience of your home. The daily regimen includes a morning routine, a night routine and a soothing balm to manage any skin irritation, if it occurs. 2 weeks after your initial visit and mask, you’ll return to the office for a mask retouch. Then, you’ll continue the daily regimen as indicated for two more weeks, after which point the Enlighten RX system is complete. Enlighten RX can produce great results in a single month, but it can also be repeated multiple times a year if needed based on a patient’s skin condition.

Is There Any Downtime After Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels are generally mild treatments that don’t require a significant amount of downtime. In some cases, depending on the intensity of your chemical peel, you may experience redness or peeling for a few days after treatment. This may require you to limit sun exposure and take other precautions, but it should not impact your ability to work or perform other normal activities. Some peels may require multiple treatments to achieve your desired results.

How Much Do Chemical Peels Cost?

To determine the exact cost of your chemical peel, we invite you to schedule a consultation at our office. During your consultation, we will develop a personalized treatment plan that will satisfy your unique needs and produce the best results possible. At that point, we will be able to provide you with a clear breakdown of the costs associated with your treatment. To help make our services affordable for our patients, we are proud to offer financing through CareCredit®. We also accept cash, checks and major credit cards.

If you are considering a chemical peel or one of our other skin care treatments, please contact us today to schedule a consultation. Alta Vista Dermatology welcomes patients from Denver, Highlands Ranch, and the surrounding areas of Colorado.
